The team, led by WM David Heywood, performed to a high standard and a good time was had by all - but the ceremony nearly didn't happen as Tom had suffered a painful accident and injured his shoulder earlier in the month, while WBro Heywood (also acting Organist) had hurt his hand.
All was well in the end, however, as Tom was determined to enjoy his special night, and David (a music teacher with the Shropshire Music Service) brought his tuba to accompany the singing from the south-west corner instead...
And, please... no jokes about the password leading from the Second to the Third Degree...

on Thursday 22nd September to launch the new Light Blue Club for Shropshire. A curry afterwards made it an evening to remember.
This club is especially aimed at young and also junior Brethren, and has the full support of the Province. Hopefully it will encourage younger and 'new to Masonry' Brethren to get to know others at the same stage of their Masonry, to enjoy themselves, to aid their Masonic education and possibly to add to the good charitable work being done in the Lodges.
Anyone interested should contact email@example.com. A second event is already in the planning!

Brother Richard Slack became a Freemason on the same night that VWBro Roger Pemberton became Master Elect of Shropshire's newest lodge. Richard is a security guard at a certain well-known local University college - so it was very appropriate that he should become a member of our first University Scheme lodge. Richard is also to be complimented on his appearance wearing his Festival Jewel on his first night in Masonry!
The evening was a warm one again, and several of those present are pictured enjoying a cooling drink after the formal part of the evening - which took only a little over an hour...
Richard was soon out and about, visiting Pengwerne Lodge the
following night, and is pictured (left) being greeted by Pengwerne's Worshipful Master, WBro David Knight. Welcome to Shropshire Masonry!

Basil Brockhurst of Basil's Taxis in Market Drayton has already offered Clive £500 towards Blind Veterans UK if he (Clive) can stay sober between 4th February and 18th March (in the kindness of his heart he excluded St David's Day from the bet).
Clive has already received further sponsorship to watch the 2017 Six Nations rugby tournament wearing an England shirt. This he will do in the King's Arms, Market Drayton with a glass of lemonade at his side!! All monies raised will go to Blind Veterans UK.
A JustGiving page is shortly to be set up and a link will be provided from this blog when it is ready. In the meantime, Clive can be contacted firstname.lastname@example.org. Or give in Market Drayton (many tins around the town) or even better direct at the pub during the England/Wales match!!

Brethren who settle down for a little early evening TV before dressing up and setting off to Lodge should not snooze off over the coming weeks or months - or they may miss a television 'first' - as WBre Allan Caswell and Colin Bolton form the "Red Team" in an unmissable episode of the "Bargain Hunt" programme.
Filmed recently at Oswestry Showground, Allan and Colin were (possibly unwisely) given £300 and let loose on the best buys to be had, all under the watchful eye of expert John Cameron. In October they will see how their three purchases do at auction in Whitchurch. We are delighted to hear that if they make a profit, it will be donated to the 2019 Festival.
However, I have seen this show, and wonder if the 2019 Festival is expected to pick up the tab if they make a loss!??!! Further details, including a likely broadcast date will be circulated as soon as we know. Come on, you Reds!!

Shropshire has given out around 30,000 of the cute bears since 2010, and the charity received a welcome boost early in September when a meeting of Column Lodge featured a talk about TLC by WBro Jeremy Lund, and WM David Heywood presented cheques totalling £600 to WBro Lund. This magnificent contribution represents donations from both Column and Longmynd - WBro Heywood is Master of both lodges, and is very committed to the charity as his son William has received three teddies on different occasions!
