Hair today, gone tomorrow.

On Saturday 29th June Ieuan Jones, a young man of 12 years of age took it upon himself to “Brave the Shave” for Macmillan Cancer Research. Ieuan of Market Drayton, a pupil at Sir John Talbot's school in Whitchurch, braved the shave in front of dozens of family friends and well-wishers in the King's Arms pub in Market Drayton - a very welcoming pub in town which has friendship and raising money for many causes at its heart.

Ieuan said ”I wanted to raise money for children with cancer and to raise further awareness. I want to support those going through cancer”. Ieuan also wanted to do this in memory of a family friend, Bro. Mel Edwards of Idsall Lodge who lost his battle only recently.

A wonderful day was had at the King's Arms and in excess of £700 has been raised by Ieuan so far for Macmillan Cancer Research. This has been achieved by having a wonderful raffle and through the kindness of many regulars in the pub, family friends, Shropshire Freemasons as well as the kind donations of many local businesses in Town.

Ieuan's parents Clive and Stephanie Jones said “We are extremely proud of what Ieuan has achieved. His focus and determination to make a difference has been wonderful.”

Ieuan is pictured before and after having his head shaved and with those who helped to put the day together.

Clive writes ”A MASSIVE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated, bought raffle tickets and supported Ieuan with his fundraiser. In excess of £700 is a wonderful amount for a worthwhile charity and we cannot thank you enough.”
